Gharadjeh, which means “The Black Mountain”, is an area in north-eastern Iran. The wool used for these rugs is of a very high quality, compared to the Tabriz wool that is otherwise used, and the resulting product is therefore very consistent. The Gharadjeh rugs are easily recognisable by their design, which consists of three medallions. The two outer ones are shaped like an eight sided star, while the central one is diamond shaped. The rugs are mostly found in earth tones, blue, and several nuances of green and yellow.
